About this item
The E2103K eliminates that. It's a field conversion kit that upgrades an existing 2103 or FL2103 Apex 2000 Series rim exit device to full electric lock/unlock capability without removing or replacing the device body. When the conversion is done, the 2103 becomes an E2103 (or FL2103 becomes an FLE2103), with the outside trim lever controlled by access control signal rather than by key only. The kit contains two components: the trim locking assembly and the Electric "E" locking assembly (solenoid unit). Both go in during a single field installation without specialty tools.
This is the correct kit for facilities that have existing Precision 2000 (P2K) Apex rim exit devices already installed and need to add access control capability without a full device replacement. For the base PHI Precision 2103 Apex rim exit device or the fire-rated PHI Precision FL2103 fire rated Apex rim device that this kit upgrades, browse those product pages. What the E2103K Converts and Why It Matters
The base 2103 is a storeroom-function rim exit device: inside push rail always allows egress, outside entry requires a key every time. The E2103K adds a solenoid-actuated electric lock/unlock mechanism to the outside trim. Once installed, the outside lever is controlled by both the mechanical cylinder and an access control signal. An access control panel can unlock the outside trim remotely: via card reader, keypad, intercom, or any access control trigger. The facility no longer depends solely on key distribution for outside access management.
The fire-rated FL2103 receives the same conversion. The FLE2103 configuration maintains the fire door listing because the electric "E" assembly is tested and listed for use on fire-rated door assemblies. Confirm with your AHJ that the E2103K conversion maintains fire label compliance on your specific door assembly before installation.
PHI Precision E2103K Technical Specifications

Device family: PHI Precision Apex 2000 Series (also referred to as Precision 2000, P2K). Kit contents: Trim locking assembly and Electric "E" locking assembly (solenoid). Solenoid current draw: 0.3 Amps. Switch rating: SPDT, 2 Amps at 24VDC. Installation type: Field conversion, no device removal required. Wiring note: Exit device body can be used as a conduit to route wiring to the hinge side of the door.
What's Not Included
The E2103K is a conversion kit and includes only the trim locking assembly and the solenoid assembly. The base 2103 or FL2103 exit device is not included. Power supply is not included and must be sized to the solenoid's 0.3 Amp current draw. If latchbolt monitoring is required for door position signaling or REX integration, the latchbolt monitoring switch for Wide Stile Rim devices is available as a separate add-on. If wireless access management is required instead of hardwired, the Precision Q Option wireless retrofit kit (QSRK5267) is available as an alternative.
Apex 2000 Series: Why Installers Call It P2K
PHI Precision's Apex 2000 Series (commonly abbreviated as P2K or Precision 2000 in the access control industry) is one of the most widely installed panic exit device lines in North American healthcare and educational facilities. The E2103K is specifically for the 2103 rim device. If your installation uses the 2103 and you're adding access control for the first time, this kit is the most cost-effective path to electrification. If your installation requires a full electric latch retraction (ELR) instead of lever lock/unlock, the PHI Precision ELRK series is the appropriate kit.
