About this item
The Sargent 6300 is a Large Format Interchangeable Core (LFIC) cylinder that lets facility managers rekey any opening on site in seconds, without removing the lock from the door and without calling a locksmith. The control key releases the locking cam, the core slides out, and a new pre-pinned core drops in. That sequence covers a security event, a tenant change, or a lost key situation with no downtime, no hardware removal, and no locksmith service call. American Locksets stocks the Sargent 6300 LFIC at a significant discount off list price with same-day shipping and free shipping on orders over $300.
Sargent 6300 LFIC Large Format Interchangeable Core, 6-Pin
The 6300 is a permanent LFIC core, meaning it ships pre-pinned to a specified keyway and keying arrangement and installs directly into any Sargent LFIC-prepped hardware. It is not a temporary construction core. This is the production security core for buildings running the Sargent LFIC key system across their hardware schedule.
Compatibility covers a broad range of Sargent product types: exit devices, mortise locks, bored cylindrical locks, and padlocks that are prepped for the 41 or LFIC format. If your hardware schedule already includes Sargent mortise or cylindrical locks with LFIC prep, the 6300 is the correct core to populate those housings.
How the Sargent 6300 LFIC System Works
The defining operational feature of the 6300 is the control key. The 6272 CTL control key (sold separately) releases an internal locking cam inside the core. With the control key turned to the release position, the core lifts free of the housing in one motion. A new 6300 core drops in and locks into place. No tools. No disassembly. No door removal.
For facilities that run dozens or hundreds of doors on a single master key system, this capability directly impacts security management after a key loss or employee termination. Rekeying a cylindrical or mortise lock in a conventional system requires disassembling the lockset or scheduling a locksmith visit per door. With the 6300 LFIC system, a facilities team member with a control key and a set of pre-ordered replacement cores can rekey every affected opening in a building in the same afternoon.
LFIC key systems can also include conventional cylinders operated by the same master and change keys when the quick-change feature is not needed for specific openings. This gives specifiers the flexibility to mix LFIC cores on high-security or high-traffic doors with standard cylinders on low-priority openings, all within the same key system.
