The Sargent 8255 is a Grade 1 commercial mortise lock built for office and entry doors that need key-controlled outside access with guaranteed free egress from inside. It uses the Sargent 55 function: a key on the outside retracts the latchbolt, the inside trim always retracts the latchbolt regardless of the outside lever's position, and the outside trim is locked or unlocked exclusively by the interior toggle. The auxiliary deadlatch automatically engages when the door closes, blocking latch shimming without any additional hardware.

Cylinder and Keying

The standard cylinder is brass, size 41 (1-1/8"), with the LA standard keyway. Masterkeying and grand masterkeying are both supported. Construction keying is available. The 8255 is compatible with all Sargent key control systems including Degree, Signature, KESO, and XC for high-security applications.
