How the SG00 Entrance Function Works

The SG00 carries ANSI Function F109, which is the entrance/office function with turn/push button locking. From the outside, the lever operates the latchbolt freely when unlocked. Pushing the interior button locks the outside lever, which then requires a key to retract. Pushing and turning the button keeps the outside lever locked until the button is manually disengaged, even after a key is used. From the inside, the lever is always free for immediate egress regardless of whether the outside is locked. This is the standard function for office entry doors, apartment corridor doors, and hotel room exterior doors where occupants need controlled entry from outside but unrestricted exit from inside at all times.

Optional Clutch Lever Upgrade

An optional clutch mechanism is available on the SG00. The clutch causes the outside lever to freewheel in the locked position instead of transferring torque to the latch mechanism. This prevents lever breakage on high-abuse applications where someone forcefully tries the outside lever when it's locked. For schools, hotel corridors, and any high-traffic installation where lever abuse is a real operational concern, specifying the clutch option at the time of order is worth the minor cost difference.

This lock is the correct specification for office entry doors, apartment unit entrances, hotel room exterior doors, hospital department entries, school administrative offices, and light commercial storefronts where Grade 2 performance satisfies the project requirement.
