About this item
The Falcon 5622-STD is a replacement mortise cylinder cam designed specifically for use with conventional (non-IC) cylinders in Falcon MA Series mortise locks. If you've ordered a Falcon mortise cylinder separately from your lock body, or you're retrofitting a cylinder into an existing MA Series installation, this is the cam that connects the two. It corresponds to positions F1 and F2 in the Falcon MA lock cam reference diagram, and it's the standard cam that Falcon ships with their 900 Series mortise cylinders as factory original equipment.
The cam itself is the small shaped driver that mounts to the tail of the mortise cylinder. When the key rotates the cylinder plug, the cam rotates with it and physically operates the lock's bolt or latch mechanism. Getting the wrong cam means the cylinder either won't throw the bolt at all or will be positioned incorrectly inside the case. Cam selection is one of those things that looks straightforward until you order the wrong one, so knowing exactly which cam your lock and cylinder combination needs before you order saves a return trip.
When to Use 5622-STD vs 5620-STD or 5621-STD
Here's where most people get confused. Falcon makes three different MA Series cam variants for conventional mortise cylinders, and the difference comes down to which function your lock is and where the cylinder is positioned.
The 5622-STD is for the vast majority of Falcon MA Series mortise lock functions-it covers F1 and F2 positions across standard functions. The MA381 is the exception. That particular function requires a different cam on each side because of how it operates inside the case. The inside cylinder for an MA381 takes the 5620-STD. The outside cylinder takes the 5621-STD. If you're working with any Falcon MA Series lock that isn't an MA381, the 5622-STD is what you need.
Conventional vs IC Cams
The STD suffix means this cam is for conventional fixed-pin cylinders. If your facility runs Falcon SFIC (Small Format Interchangeable Core) cylinders instead of conventional, you need the 5622-IC rather than the 5622-STD. The mechanical interface is different between conventional and IC format cylinders, and these cams are not interchangeable between the two formats. Double-check your cylinder type before ordering.
Schlage C Keyway Note
If you're ordering a Falcon conventional mortise cylinder in Schlage C keyway to integrate into a mixed-brand key system, the only cams available for that configuration are the 5622-STD and the B502-191. Other cam options won't work with Schlage C keyway conventional cylinders in the Falcon MA platform.
What This Fits
The 5622-STD works with Falcon MA Series mortise locks across all standard functions-classroom, storeroom, office, entrance, corridor, apartment, hotel, and others-in both single and double cylinder configurations, as long as the function isn't MA381. It's compatible with Falcon's 985 and 986 mortise cylinder bodies and most other conventional Falcon mortise cylinders. If you're sourcing a replacement cam because the original was lost or damaged during a retrofit, this is the correct part for standard MA Series installations.
