About this item
The Kaba Ilco 7185SC1-26D is a 1-1/8" mortise cylinder with the Schlage SC1 keyway, standard 863G cam, 5-pin drilled 6 configuration, and US26D Satin Chrome finish. It's one of the most commonly stocked replacement mortise cylinders in the commercial locksmith supply chain, built to fit the widest range of standard mortise locks on the market with a Schlage-compatible keyway.
Kaba Ilco is now part of dormakaba, the global access solutions group. The Ilco cylinder line has been the industry standard for replacement and aftermarket mortise cylinders for decades, machined from solid brass bar stock to OEM specifications.
1-1/8" Length and When to Specify It
Mortise cylinders are ordered by length based on the door thickness and cylinder pocket depth of the mortise lock being serviced or installed. The 7185SC1-26D at 1-1/8" is the most common length for standard 1-3/4" commercial hollow metal and wood doors with a typical cylinder pocket depth. Other Ilco 7185 lengths are available including 15/16" and longer variants for oversized doors or thicker lockcase cylinders. Confirm the required cylinder length against the lockcase specification before ordering. The thread size is 1.150 x 32 UNS and the cylinder face diameter is 1.360" (34.5mm), which is the standard commercial mortise cylinder format.
What "5-Pin Drilled 6" Means
The 7185SC1-26D is a 5-pin cylinder with the cylinder body drilled for 6 pin chambers. Five of the six chambers are loaded with pins. The sixth chamber is drilled and available but unloaded. This "drilled 6" construction is the standard in commercial cylinder manufacturing and allows locksmiths to add a sixth pin for masterkey system requirements without replacing the cylinder body. For most standard keyed-different or keyed-alike applications, it functions as a 5-pin cylinder.
Schlage SC1 Keyway
The SC1 keyway, also referenced as the Schlage C keyway, is the most widely used commercial keyway in North America and the standard on the majority of Schlage commercial cylindrical and mortise locks. Specifying the 7185SC1-26D means the cylinder will accept any Schlage SC1-cut key, making it directly compatible with a very large existing installed base of commercial masterkey systems. If the door hardware or existing keys use a different Schlage keyway (SC4, C, etc.) confirm compatibility before ordering.
Standard 863G Cam
The standard (863G) cam is a straight cam profile used on the majority of commercial mortise locks. This is the correct cam for Schlage L Series, Sargent, and most other standard commercial mortise lockcases. If the lockcase uses an Adams Rite cam (863A), or a Sargent/Yale cam, a different cam suffix is required. The cam drives the function of the lock when the key is turned and must match the lockcase specification exactly.
Keying Options
The base 7185SC1-26D comes keyed different (KD) with a pair of keys included. Keyed alike (KA) versions are available under different suffix codes for applications where multiple cylinders on a project need to operate on the same key. For masterkey system work, the 7185SC1-26D's 5-pin drilled 6 body accommodates the additional master pins required without modification.
Finish
US26D Satin Chrome is the standard commercial finish designation matching most commercial hardware in satin chrome. The cylinder body and face are finished to coordinate with Schlage, Sargent, and other commercial lever and lockcase finishes in 26D.
