Sargent 41 Mortise Cylinder: What 1-1/8 Inch Means and When It's Correct
The 1-1/8 inch dimension on the Sargent 41 refers to the length under the cylinder head, which is the dimension that determines how the cylinder fits through the door and into the lock body. The 1-1/8 inch length is the standard specification for most Sargent mortise lock applications on 1-3/4 inch thick doors with a standard mortise lock preparation. It is the most commonly stocked cylinder length in the 40 Series line.
Sargent 40 Series mortise cylinders are available in lengths from 1-1/8 inch through 3 inches for thicker doors, extended doors, or special mortise lock case depths. The 7-pin version is available at 1-1/4 inch minimum. The 41 (1-1/8 inch) is only available in 6-pin configuration. Confirm the required length against the mortise lock case depth and door thickness before ordering.

Sargent 41 Keyways
The Sargent 41 is available in Sargent's full range of conventional keyways. The most commonly specified include LA, LB, LJ, LE, LF, HF, RF, RA, HA, RG, RK, CC, CF, CG, and RE. Keyway selection must match the existing key section in the building's key system. Adding a 41 cylinder to an existing Sargent-keyed building requires specifying the correct keyway to match the change key section already in use. If the existing keyway is unknown, it can be identified by the cuts on the key or by consulting the building's key system records.
For master key systems, specify keyway, master key bitting, and change key bitting at order. Sargent's conventional cylinder platform supports standard master keying, grand master keying, and construction master keying using temporary construction cores.
