The Von Duprin 9447EO-F and 9547EO-F are fire-rated concealed vertical rod exit devices from Von Duprin's INPACT 94/95 Series, shipped in Exit Only (EO) configuration with no outside trim. These are ANSI Function 01 devices: push from inside always retracts the latchbolt for egress, with no key cylinder or outside lever involved. Exit Only is the correct specification for emergency egress doors, stairwell fire doors, loading docks, and equipment rooms where no outside access is ever needed and the door is controlled only from within.
The 9447EO-F uses the 94 Series smooth mechanism case. The 9547EO-F uses the 95 Series grooved mechanism case. Both are mechanically and dimensionally identical. The choice between them is a visible aesthetic decision based on project requirements.
Both models are ANSI/BHMA A156.3, Grade 1 certified and UL listed for Panic Hardware and Fire Hardware. It's an Allegion manufactured product. American Locksets is an authorized Von Duprin dealer.
What INPACT Means and Why Steel Door Prep Is Required
INPACT is Von Duprin's recessed concealed vertical rod exit device platform. Unlike conventional surface-mounted exit bars that project outward from the door face, the INPACT pushpad sits recessed into the door body. The pushpad is flush with or slightly below the door surface when depressed. This recessed design reduces the profile available for vandalism or abuse, creates a cleaner architectural appearance, and minimizes the pushpad projection in high-traffic corridors.
Because the device body installs inside the door construction, the INPACT is only compatible with factory-prepped hollow metal steel doors. Wood doors cannot accommodate the concealed vertical rod and latch case hardware. Confirm factory prep on the door specification before ordering. Compatible steel door manufacturers include Steelcraft and other Allegion partner manufacturers.
Physical Specifications and Dimensions
Latchbolt: 5/8" (16mm) throw. Deadlocking latchbolt is standard. Door thickness: 1-3/4". Door undercut maximum: 1/4" (7mm). Device centerline from finished floor: 39-5/8" (1006mm).
Pushpad projection neutral: 1-5/8" (41mm). Pushpad depressed: 1-1/4" (32mm). This is a significantly lower projection than surface-mounted exit devices, which is why INPACT is specified for narrow corridors and architectural applications.
Top and bottom latch case assembly: 4-1/2" x 2-1/8" x 1-1/2" (114mm x 54mm x 38mm).
Device lengths: 24-5/32" device for doors 2'6" to 2'9" wide. 30-5/32" device for doors 2'10" to 4' wide.
Vertical rods: Two-piece adjustable. For doors 6'8" (2032mm) to 8'0" (2540mm) tall, rod length can be adjusted by removing the latchside endcap.
Handing: Non-handed. Installs on left-hand or right-hand doors without modification.
Strikes: Top 338 unfinished, bottom 385A unfinished. 575 strike included.
Fasteners: Included for surface mounting to recessed door prep and through-bolting to trim.
Dogging: Hex key dogging standard. Fire-rated models ship without dogging to meet UL fire hardware requirements.
Electric and Mechanical Options Available
QEL (Quiet Electric Latch Retraction): Converts the exit door to push-pull operation via electrical switch. Allows remote release of the latch for access control integration without a key.
LX (Latchbolt Monitor Switch): SPDT switch that signals when the latch bolt is retracted. Used by access control panels to log door usage events.
LBR (Less Bottom Rod): Available with UL fire label. Used on pairs of vertical rod devices where the bottom rod of one leaf would interfere with the door pair operation.
PL (Pullman Latch): For use with an electric strike (ES). Converts the latchbolt to a flat profile for compatibility with specific electric strike configurations.
94/95 Series INPACT Function and Trim Family
The EO (Exit Only) configuration on this page ships with no outside trim. For applications where outside access is needed, the 9447L-F/9547L-F adds lever trim (key locks and unlocks), and 9447TL-F/9547TL-F adds thumbturn key trim. All fire-rated models carry the -F suffix.
