The 9875L uses a smooth mechanism case. The 9975L uses a grooved mechanism case. The two devices are mechanically and dimensionally identical. The difference is purely visual, matching the exit device appearance to whether a facility runs 98 or 99 series hardware on other openings. If your building's hardware schedule specifies 99 series with grooved cases throughout, order the 9975L. If the schedule uses 98 series smooth cases, the 9875L is the match.

Both devices integrate with the 7500 mortise lock body, which provides a 3/4 inch (19mm) anti-friction latchbolt that is field reversible without removing the lock from the door. The auxiliary bolt is non-handed and deadlocks the latchbolt when the door closes, preventing latchbolt manipulation from the exterior. The faceplate has an adjustable bevel to accommodate doors that are not perfectly flat.

996L Rigid Lever Trim and ANSI Function F08

The 996L rigid lever trim ships with this device in the standard entry function, ANSI Function F08. The exterior lever is locked and unlocked by key. When locked, the outside lever cannot retract the latchbolt. When unlocked by key, both the outside lever and the inside pushpad retract the latch. The inside pushpad is always operational for egress regardless of the keyed state of the outside trim.

The trim is rigid, not breakaway. The 996L rigid lever is through-bolted to the device body for secure attachment. The escutcheon plate measures 2-3/4 inches x 10-3/4 inches x 27/32 inch (70mm x 273mm x 21mm). Trim projection is 2-7/8 inch (73mm). The cylinder is a 1-1/4 inch mortise cylinder, sold separately. Handing is reversible: ships as right-hand reverse (RHR), field reversible to left-hand reverse without disassembling the device.

The 9875L/9975L fits stock hollow metal doors with an 86 edge cutout and door stiles as narrow as 4-3/4 inches (121mm). Device lengths are available in 3-foot (for doors 2'4" to 3' wide) and 4-foot (for doors 2'10" to 4' wide). Extension rods are available for doors taller than the standard height range.
