The Von Duprin 9875L-NL and 9975L-NL are mortise lock panic exit devices with rigid lever trim configured for the Night Latch (NL) function, paired with the 996L trim escutcheon. ANSI/BHMA A156.3 Grade 1 certified. UL listed for panic hardware and fire exit hardware. Many models in the 98/99 Series are also certified for hurricane-resistant door openings. The 9875 has a smooth mechanism case; the 9975 has a grooved mechanism case. Both are mechanically and dimensionally identical, providing the same Grade 1 performance in two distinct exterior appearances.

Von Duprin 9875 and 9975 Mortise Exit Device: Night Latch Function

The Night Latch (NL) function means the key controls the latch from the exterior. A key inserted in the exterior lever trim cylinder retracts the latchbolt to allow entry, and the latch relocks automatically when the door closes. This is the correct function for controlled entry doors where staff or authorized users need keyed access from outside but the door must self-latch and self-secure after each entry without manual relocking. The inside pushpad always provides immediate free egress regardless of the exterior lock state.

The device ships from the factory pre-set for field-selectable functions including EO (exit only), DT (dogging), and NL. The NL function is engaged by adjusting the NL drive screw in the mortise lock body without removing the device from the door.

996L Trim with Night Latch Function

The 996 Series trim is the standard rigid lever escutcheon for the 9875/9975 mortise exit device. The escutcheon plate is 2-3/4 inch x 10-3/4 inch x 27/32 inch (70x273x21mm) with a lever projection of 2-7/8 inch (73mm). The NL trim configuration corresponds to ANSI Function 03: key retracts latchbolt. The cylinder is a 1-1/4 inch mortise type, less cylinder, which must be ordered separately. Electrified lever operation (E996 trim) is available for access control integration.

The Quiet One fluid dampener is furnished standard on all 98/99 Series devices. It decelerates the pushpad on its return stroke and eliminates most operational noise, a critical feature for healthcare, education, and office environments.
