Arrow AL500 Alarmed Exit Device, Wide Stile Pushpad, Rim

Most alarmed exit devices require wiring to a central alarm panel. The Arrow AL500 doesn't. It's a self-contained, battery-powered alarmed exit device that activates a 103 dB pulsating horn the instant the push rail is depressed, with zero hardwiring to an access control or alarm system required. That makes it the specification for doors where a monitored alarm system doesn't exist or isn't cost-effective: secondary exit doors in retail, storage areas in schools, side exits in commercial buildings, and any door that needs clear deterrence against unauthorized exit without the infrastructure of a full alarm system.

The wide stile pushpad rim configuration fits standard commercial hollow metal and aluminum doors. It's available in a fire-rated version for labeled fire exit door applications, and in two rail lengths covering 32-1/4" to 36" door widths (size 36) and 36-1/4" to 48" door widths (size 48). How the Arrow AL500 Alarm System Works

The alarm board is microprocessor based. When armed, any depression of the push rail activates the 103 dB pulsating horn immediately. The horn sounds for two minutes and shuts off automatically. A field selectable continuous alarm option is available if you need the horn to sound until manually reset. After automatic shut-off, the device re-arms automatically so the next exit attempt triggers the alarm again without any staff intervention required.

The flashing red LED on the device provides visible violation indication after activation. The LED continues to flash even after the horn shuts off, alerting staff that the exit was used. The LED resets by key only, using the 1-1/8" (29mm) mortise cylinder with 001 cam that's used for arming and disarming the unit. The cylinder is ordered separately and is not included.

Guarded Latch and Rail Monitoring

The AL500 includes two standard internal security features. The Guarded Latch is a tamper-resistant latching mechanism that prevents the latch from being manipulated from the outside without operating the push rail. Rail Monitoring provides internal detection of rail depression, which is the trigger mechanism for both the alarm and any signaling that may be integrated later.

Fire Rated Configuration

The fire rated "F" version of the AL500 is available for fire-labeled door applications where an alarmed exit device is required on a fire door. For fire-rated openings, always confirm with your AHJ that a battery-powered alarmed exit device is accepted as a compliant fire exit hardware solution for the specific door label.
