About this item
The Ives COR42 is a bar-type door coordinator for a pair of doors, sized with a 42 inch channel to fit two 2'6" (30 inch) leaves. A door coordinator solves a specific problem on double doors: it makes sure the inactive leaf closes before the active leaf. On a pair of doors with automatic flush bolts, an overlapping astragal, or a fire-rated assembly, the doors have to close in the right order or they won't latch and seal properly. The COR42 enforces that sequence automatically, so the pair closes correctly every time. It's part of Ives' COR Series, meets ANSI/BHMA A156.3 Type 21A, and is UL listed for installation on labeled (fire-rated) frames.
Why a pair of doors needs a coordinator
This is the part most people don't realize they need until a door fails to latch. On a single door, closing is simple. On a pair, if the active leaf (the one used most) closes first, it blocks the inactive leaf from seating, so the inactive door stays open, the flush bolts never engage, and a fire door fails to do its job. A door coordinator holds the active leaf open just long enough for the inactive leaf to close first, then releases it so both doors close and latch in sequence. That's exactly why building codes require coordination on pairs with automatic or self-latching flush bolts on fire-rated openings.
The COR42 is the bar (channel) style: a mounting bar runs across the top of the frame on the stop. The active door lever, nearest the active stop, holds the active door open until the closing of the inactive leaf releases the trigger mechanism, then the active door closes. It's a mechanical, reliable way to guarantee the right sequence.
How the COR42 works and fits
The COR42's 42 inch channel is sized for a pair of 2'6" doors. The COR Series comes in five sizes for different opening widths, so the size is matched to your pair (the COR32 for 2'0" doors, COR52 for 3'0", and so on). An adjustable override feature lets the active door close under extreme pressure if needed, and the COR42 is compatible with flush bolts, which is the most common pairing. One install note from Ives: the COR units may not function correctly with swing-clear hinges, so verify your hinge type.
Because the channel doesn't span the entire stop, Ives offers optional FL filler bars (FL20, FL32, FL44) to maintain clean architectural lines across the full width, and optional mounting brackets (the MB series) for other stop-applied hardware. The channel and fillers are aluminum.

Why choose the Ives COR42
Ives is one of the most specified builders hardware brands in commercial construction, and the COR Series is a standard coordinator on fire-rated and flush-bolt-equipped pairs. The COR42 gives you reliable, code-compliant door coordination for a pair of 2'6" doors, with an adjustable override, flush bolt compatibility, and a UL listing for labeled frames. The filler bar and mounting bracket options let you finish the installation cleanly and adapt it to your stop and hardware.
One thing to confirm before ordering: match the coordinator size to your door pair (the COR42 is for a pair of 2'6" doors), confirm you aren't using swing-clear hinges, and add the right FL filler bar if you want a continuous clean line across the stop.
