LCN 4021T Heavy Duty Track Closer - Mounting Top Jamb (Pull Side) - Size 1 (ADA)

The LCN 4021T is the top jamb mounted track closer from LCN's 4020 Series, sized for ADA-compliant interior doors from 26 to 34 inches wide. The body mounts on the head jamb: the horizontal frame member directly above the door opening. The track arm connects from the closer body down to a track rail on the door, and as the door opens toward you (pull side), the roller slides along the door track. This is the 4020T Series closer for top-of-frame installation. It shares the cast iron body, 30-year warranty, and Grade 1 certification of the broader LCN 4000 family, installed in a different position.

Top jamb mounting is specified when the door doesn't have enough space for a conventional hinge-side or push-side closer, when the architectural hardware schedule specifically calls for head mounting, or when door or frame conditions make hinge-side installation impractical. Top Jamb vs Hinge Side: Choosing Between 4021T and 4011T

Both the 4021T and the 4011T are LCN heavy duty track closers in Size 1 ADA for the same 26 to 34-inch door width range. Both use a track arm and roller. Both are Grade 1 certified. The mounting location is the only difference.

The 4011T (LCN 4010 Series) mounts on the hinge side of the door: the door stile on the pull side where the hinges are visible. The closer body is on the door itself, and the arm track connects to the frame.

The 4021T (LCN 4020 Series, this product) mounts on the top jamb of the door frame: the horizontal head above the door. The closer body is on the frame head, and the arm track connects to the door.

Specify 4021T when the hardware schedule calls for top jamb mounting, when the door stile doesn't provide adequate mounting surface for the 4011T, or when a top-of-frame installation is preferred for architectural or clearance reasons. If the mounting location is not specified on the hardware schedule, confirm with the project architect or installer before ordering.

ADA Opening Force and Size 1

Size 1 is the ADA configuration. On interior accessible doors subject to a 5-pound maximum opening force requirement under ANSI A117.1 and ADA standards, Size 1 is the spring strength that meets that requirement on doors up to 34 inches wide. The 4021T Size 1 is the correct specification for top-jamb-mounted closers on accessible restroom doors, corridor doors, and office entries where ADA opening force compliance is required and the mounting location is the head frame.
