LCN 4040XPT H BUMPER Track Door Closer - Hold-Open with Bumper Arm

The LCN 4040XPT H BUMPER is the hold-open bumper arm configuration of LCN's 4040XP heavy duty track closer. Two things make this specific model worth understanding: the XP body and the H BUMPER arm.

The 4040XP body is LCN's eXtra Protection platform, the most heavily engineered closer body in the LCN 4040 line. The pinion journal is 3/4 inch in diameter - the strongest LCN has ever put in a 4040 Series closer - with a 5/8-inch bearing width, the widest in the series. The result is 44 percent higher bearing load capacity than previous 4040 generations. The V-shield seal extends service life by 20 percent over earlier LCN designs. Cast iron body. Forged steel arm. Double heat-treated steel pinion. All-weather fluid. This is what LCN designed for the most demanding institutional installations where earlier generation closers wore out sooner than expected.

The H BUMPER arm adds the hold-open function via a mechanical bumper. When the door opens to the bumper stop position, the arm contacts the stop and holds the door open mechanically without any electrical power. The door stays open until someone pulls it closed with enough force to disengage the bumper. This is a purely mechanical hold-open: no wiring, no magnet, no access control integration required. For openings where powered hold-open is over-engineered and the application just needs the door to stay open during high-traffic periods without staff holding it, the H BUMPER arm is the right specification. Track Arm and Tri-Mount

The T in 4040XPT designates the track arm. One end of the arm connects to the closer body. The other end has a roller that slides along a track mounted on the door, allowing the door to open to wide angles without the pivot geometry constraints of a regular arm. Track arms are specified when the door needs to swing to 180 degrees or when door and frame geometry makes a regular arm impractical.

The 4040XPT ships in tri-mount configuration: the same unit installed in three different positions without requiring additional components. Pull side on door (hinge side), pull side top jamb, and push side on door. The mounting position is selected at installation based on the door configuration and hardware schedule. Non-handed: the same unit works on left-hand and right-hand doors.

4040XPT Power Size: Adjustable 1-4

The 4040XPT cylinder is adjustable from size 1 through size 4 and ships set to size 3. Size 3 covers most standard commercial door widths in institutional applications. LCNFastPower Adjust allows field calibration through the cover without removing the closure or cover from the door. If the door requires a lighter closing force for ADA compliance, the power can be adjusted down toward size 1 after installation.
