About this item
The LCN 4111 SCUSH is a heavy-duty cast iron door closer from the LCN 4110 Series, the institutional-grade platform LCN built for high-traffic, high-abuse openings: schools, hospitals, dormitories, government buildings, and any commercial opening that takes a beating. The SCUSH suffix means Spring CUSH-N-STOP arm: a solid forged-steel parallel arm with a spring-loaded mechanical stop built into the soffit shoe. That spring stop replaces a separate wall stop or floor stop, absorbs the energy of a slammed-open door, and prevents over-travel that destroys conventional closers. Mounts parallel arm on the push side only. Non-sized cylinder is field-adjustable for interior doors up to 4'-6" wide and exterior doors up to 3'-6" wide. ANSI/BHMA A156.4 Grade 1 certified, UL and cUL Listed. Available in five powder coat finishes. Specify right-hand or left-hand swing at order. SKU 4111-SCUSH. In stock.
What SCUSH Means and Why It Matters
LCN's CUSH arm family solves a specific problem: doors that get pushed open hard enough to slam against the wall, damaging the wall, the door, and eventually the closure itself. Standard closers don't stop the door from fully opening. CUSH arms include an integrated mechanical stop in the soffit shoe so the closer itself controls the open angle. The SCUSH variant adds a spring inside that stops so the impact of an abusive opening is absorbed instead of transferred straight to the closer body. SCUSH is the right specification for institutional and abusive applications: K-12 schools, dormitories, hospital corridors, athletic facilities, behavioral health units, and any opening where users routinely push doors open with force. CUSH (no spring), SCUSH (spring), HCUSH (cushion plus hold-open), and SHCUSH (spring cushion plus hold-open) are the four variants in the family. SCUSH is the most durable choice when hold-open is not required.

4111 vs 4011 SCUSH and CUSH Family Comparison
The 4111 designation indicates the standard 4110 series SCUSH closer. The DEL option adds a Delayed Action feature that holds the door at full open for 15 to 30 seconds before starting the close cycle, useful for ADA passage and for moving carts and gurneys through hospital and school doorways. Within the SCUSH family in the same building, 4111 SCUSH covers most institutional doors. For lighter commercial applications where institutional abuse-resistance isn't required, the LCN 4040XP SCUSH is the smaller commercial-duty equivalent. For openings that need both spring cushion and hold-open, the LCN 4040XP SHCUSH adds a hold-open arm. For openings without integrated stop requirements, the LCN 4040XP RW/PA is the standard parallel arm closer.
Where to Specify
Specify the 4111 SCUSH on K-12 corridor and classroom doors, dormitory entrances, hospital and healthcare corridor doors, behavioral health and psychiatric facility doors, university residential and academic buildings, government and municipal buildings, athletic facility doors, prison and detention non-secure doors, and any commercial opening where users push doors open with force and a separate wall stop or floor stop is impractical or already failed. The 4111 SCUSH is also the right answer when the original closer has been destroyed by over-travel and the spec needs to upgrade beyond standard parallel arm to prevent recurrence.
Where This Sits in the LCN Catalog
The 4111 SCUSH lives in the LCN 4110 Series Door Closers under LCN Door Closers within Standard Door Closers and the broader Door Closers catalog.
