Function 70: Classroom and Storeroom Combined

ANSI function 70 covers both classroom and storeroom behavior in the AD-200 platform. In classroom mode, the door is normally secured - the outside lever is locked. Toggle credentials from outside can switch the lock between secured and passage states. In storeroom mode, the outside lever is always locked and entry is by credential only. Inside, the lever is always free for immediate egress regardless of the electronic state. This is the correct specification for K-12 classrooms, university labs, server rooms, medical supply storage, and any institutional space that needs keypad-controlled entry with full audit logging.

5,000 Users and 5,000 Audit Events

The AD-200-MS-70-KP manages up to 5,000 unique users and stores the last 5,000 access events with time and date stamps. Each event records who accessed the door and when. That audit trail is retrievable via the Schlage Handheld Device (HHD) or the free Schlage Utility Software (SUS) on a compatible Android device with the SUS-A cable.

This is the key distinction between the AD-200 and the CO-200. The CO-200 handles up to 2,000 users and audits and relies on PC software for management. The AD-200 scales to 5,000 users, supports more credential reader options including smart cards, multi-technology, NFC mobile, and magnetic stripe - and critically, its modular reader design allows a field upgrade to a networked solution without removing the lock from the door. When your facility moves from standalone to networked access control, you swap the reader module, not the lockbody.

Programming at the Keypad and Scheduling Features

The 12-button keypad accepts 3 to 6 digit PIN codes. Basic programming happens directly at the keypad - add or delete users, change codes, manage access. For more advanced configuration, the Schlage Express software (sold separately) combines with the HHD to push user data, door schedules, access rights, and audit retrievals. Up to 8 auto-unlock schedules and 32 holiday schedules are configurable. The 1st Person-In feature restricts user access until a designated first-in credential (typically a supervisor) arrives - useful for opening a facility in the morning without giving all users unrestricted all-hours access.

Power and Installation

Four standard AA batteries deliver up to two years of operating life. Operating temperature range on the exterior side is -31 to 151 degrees Fahrenheit, covering outdoor-rated conditions.
