About this item
The Trimco 3913 is a manual flush bolt for wood doors with an extruded high-density body. It installs at the top corner of the inactive leaf on a pair of wood doors and secures that leaf to the frame by sliding a 3/4" bolt into a strike mounted in the head frame. The bolt is manually operated: the occupant slides it to engage or disengage. A metal dust cover is included.
The 3913 is UL listed for use on labeled wood fire doors rated up to 1-1/2 hours. American Locksets is an authorized Trimco dealer.
What a Manual Flush Bolt Does and Where It Installs
On a pair of doors, one leaf is active (the one with the primary lock) and the other is inactive. The inactive leaf needs to be held in position at the top and bottom so the active leaf can close and latch properly. The Trimco 3913 is the hardware that secures the inactive leaf at the top. A companion flush bolt (bottom-mounted) handles the floor strike.
The 3913 mounts flush against the face of the inactive wood door leaf, near the top. When the occupant engages the bolt by sliding the finger down, the 3/4" bolt extends into the head frame strike and holds the door leaf in position. When they need to open the inactive leaf — to move furniture, equipment, or comply with egress width requirements — they slide the finger in the opposite direction to retract the bolt.
Manual flush bolts are the right specification when the inactive leaf needs to be opened periodically but doesn't need to operate automatically every time the door closes.
Extruded Body vs Wrought: What the Distinction Means
The Trimco 3913 "extruded" designation refers to the manufacturing process of the bolt body. Extruded bodies are formed by forcing high-density aluminum alloy through a die, producing a consistent, dense grain structure throughout the body. This process delivers greater strength and durability compared to cast or stamped bodies and is the construction used in Trimco's 3910 Series.
The W3913 (wrought version) is also available. Wrought bodies are formed from sheet or bar stock. Both the 3913 and W3913 serve the same function and mount in the same location — the choice is typically a specification or architect decision based on project hardware schedule requirements.
