V40W vs V40 vs V40xW: Clearing Up the Model Name

The V40W and V40xW refer to the same device. "V40xW" is Detex's catalog notation; the "x" is a placeholder indicating the position where optional suffixes (like EB for battery alarm) are inserted. When you see "V40W" without any suffix between the model number and the W, you're looking at the standard no-alarm weatherized version. The "HD" suffix designates Hex Key Dogging a hex wrench holds the latch retracted during business hours so traffic can flow freely without repeated code entry or key use. The non-dogging version omits the HD suffix.
