Falcon D111 Classroom Deadbolt

The Falcon D111 is called the Classroom Deadbolt, but it's also known by its functional name: Schoolhouse Safety. The function is what sets it apart from every other deadbolt in the Falcon D Series. On a standard single-cylinder deadbolt (like the D141), a thumbturn on the inside throws and retracts the bolt, and a key on the outside throws and retracts the bolt. Both sides can lock the door. On the D111, that inside thumbturn is restricted: it can only retract the bolt, never throw it. The only thing that locks this door is a key from the outside.

Why that matters in a school: when a threat is reported in a building, a staff member with a key walks to each classroom door from the corridor and locks it. Students and staff inside are protected. Students inside can still pull the thumb turn to open the door and exit if the room needs to be evacuated. But no key is needed from inside, and no one inside can lock themselves in intentionally. D111 Classroom vs. D141 Single Cylinder: The Critical Difference

The D141 (also in related products) is the standard single-cylinder deadbolt: outside key, inside thumbturn, both sides throw and retract freely. The D111 classroom removes the "throw" function from the inside thumbturn. Both have the same 1" Grade 1 bolt, the same solid brass cylinder, the same saw-resistant hardened steel roller inside the bolt. The function code is the only difference, and it's the one that matters for school security specifications.

SFIC Option (D111BD)

The D111BD is the SFIC version of the same classroom deadbolt. The lock body is identical. Instead of a conventional cylinder, the D111BD has an SFIC housing (BEST-compatible, less core). For facilities running a BEST or Falcon SFIC master key program, the D111BD allows every D111 classroom deadbolt in the building to use the same IC core format as every other SFIC lock in the master key system. Cores are ordered separately and pinned to the system specifications.
