The Keedex K-BXSIM is a weldable or bolt-through gate box in 14 gauge steel, designed to give you a solid mounting housing for cylindrical keypad locks on gates, fences, and non-standard doors that don't have a standard door prep. If you've got a Simplex 1000 or 5000 series pushbutton lock, an Alarm Lock Trilogy device, a Codelocks unit, or any of a range of other keyless access locks and need to mount it to a metal gate frame or panel, this is the box that makes it work. The "SIM" in the model name refers to Simplex- this was originally designed around Simplex format locks, but it's compatible across a much wider range of brands.

Welding vs Bolting: Your Choice at Installation

The K-BXSIM can be attached either way. Welding gives you a permanent, fully integrated installation where the box becomes part of the gate structure- the cleanest result for steel-frame gates in industrial or commercial applications. Bolting through is the right approach when the gate material doesn't weld cleanly (aluminum, stainless, thin tube stock), when permanent modification isn't permitted, or when the gate is a rental or lease property. The box ships unfinished and unprimed- it's raw steel, ready to paint or coat to match your gate after installation.

Material Options

The K-BXSIM comes in three materials: 14 gauge steel (the standard ST version), 0.125 gauge aluminum (the AL variant), or 16 gauge stainless steel (SS). The steel version is the most common for steel gate frames. If your gate is aluminum- pool gates, garden gates, and many commercial aluminum fence systems- the aluminum box version welds correctly to aluminum without the galvanic corrosion issues you'd get from welding steel to aluminum. Stainless is for coastal, high-humidity, or washdown environments where corrosion resistance is the priority.

The K-BXSIM is prepped for a 2-3/4-inch cylindrical backset, which is the standard for most commercial grade keypad and pushbutton locks. Compatible with:

Two modification notes worth knowing before you install. If you're mounting a Trilogy DL2700 or DL3000, the small 1/8-inch pilot hole below the 2-1/8-inch main hole needs to be drilled out to 3/8 inch. If you're using a Codelock double-sided lock, you'll need to add four thru-bolt holes for the back plate. Both are straightforward field modifications, but catching them before you weld the box to the gate saves rework.

Applications

Pool gates (the most common application for this box), commercial fence and barrier gates, garden and patio gate access points, data center equipment rooms, server cage doors, and anywhere a standard door prep isn't present but a keypad lock needs a secure mounting surface.
