The Precision 2403 Apex is a narrow stile rim exit device from PHI Precision Hardware, designed for aluminum stile and rail doors in commercial, healthcare, educational, and institutional applications where a touchbar-style exit device needs to fit within a narrow door stile profile. The 2403 carries the ANSI Function 03 (key retracts latchbolt) designation, the standard entry function for a keyed rim exit device that allows exterior access by key while maintaining free egress from the interior at all times. ANSI/BHMA A156.3 Grade 1 certified. UL listed for panic and fire exit hardware. Conforms to UL10C and UBC 7-2 positive pressure requirements.

Precision 2403 Exit Device: Function 03 Key Retracts Latchbolt

The 2403 function means pressing the touchbar from the interior always retracts the 3/4 inch stainless steel deadlocking latchbolt and releases the door. From the exterior, a rim cylinder (ordered separately) allows a key to retract the latchbolt and pull the door open. The cylinder is Rim type for the 03 function. Standard hex key dogging is included. Cylinder dogging (2403CD) is available as an alternative if dogging via key is required. Dogging is not available on fire-rated versions.

The latchbolt is stainless steel, deadlocking, with a 3/4 inch throw. The deadlocking auxiliary latch prevents the latchbolt from being shimmed or loided when the door is closed and the device is unactivated. Standard touchbar height is 39-15/16 inches from the finished floor and can be varied as the installation requires.

Electric Options and Accessories

The 2403 supports ELR (Electric Latch Retraction) as an option for access control integration. ELR uses continuous duty solenoids to retract the latchbolt remotely for momentary unlatching or continuous dogging, compatible with card readers, push buttons, automatic door operators, and fire alarm systems. Touchbar monitoring switches (TS and TDS) are available for SPDT and DPDT interface with access control panels.

The 2403 is also available in a fire-rated version (FL2403) for openings requiring UL-listed fire exit hardware on narrow stile aluminum doors.
