About this item
The Schlage ND25X80PD RHO is a Grade 1 cylindrical storeroom exit lock from the ND Series, fitted with the Rhodes (RHO) lever and a 6-pin conventional cylinder (PD designation). It's part of the Schlage ND Series, which covers 31 mechanical functions across commercial, institutional, and industrial applications. The XN12-005 keying specification means the lock ships with a Schlage C keyway, keyed random, with two nickel silver keys per lock.
It's an Allegion manufactured product under the Schlage commercial brand. American Locksets is an authorized Schlage dealer.
What the ND25X80 Combined Function Means
The "25x80" function code combines two distinct operating modes into a single lock cylinder. The outside face of the door has a blank plate — no lever, no visible cylinder, no outside entry. The inside lever is fixed (does not freewheel) and contains the key cylinder. To retract the latch and exit, the occupant must turn the key that is in the inside lever.
This type of door doesn’t allow free movement in either direction. Someone outside can’t get in using the lock, and someone inside can’t get out unless they have a key.
This function is specified for server rooms, evidence storage, secure stairwells, restricted access areas, and any application where controlled exit is required in addition to controlled entry. It differs from standard storeroom function (ND80), which has a fixed outside lever and key cylinder on the outside — the ND25x80 puts the key on the inside and eliminates the outside lever entirely.
Rhodes Lever and Lever Specifications
The Rhodes (RHO) lever is one of nine standard lever designs in the Schlage ND Series. Its profile returns to within 1/2" (13mm) of the door face, which satisfies California Fire Code lever-return requirements. It also meets ADA accessibility requirements under ICC A117.1 for lever-operated mechanisms. The lever is pressure cast zinc, plated to match the selected product finish.
The Rhodes lever is available with an optional tactile warning texture. The tactile feature is applied to the outside lever and alerts visually impaired occupants that a potential hazard exists on the other side of the door — useful on doors leading to loading docks, mechanical rooms, or exterior stairs.
