About this item

The Schlage Special ND80 EE214 is the Grade 1 storeroom cylindrical lever lock from the Schlage ND Series, factory-configured with an extended equally (EE) spindle for installation on doors with a total thickness of 2-1/4 inches. The EE214 designation is what separates this unit from a standard ND80 lockset. Where a standard ND80 ships for doors in the 1-5/8" to 2-1/8" thickness range, the EE214 extension spindle adds equal projection to both the inside and outside trim, giving the lock the spindle reach needed to mount correctly on thicker commercial and institutional doors without an adapter plate or field modification.

 

ND80 Storeroom Function: Outside Lever Always Locked

 

The ND80 storeroom function keeps the outside lever permanently locked. Entry from outside requires a key on every access event. The inside lever always operates freely for immediate egress. There is no push button, no thumbturn, and no toggle state. The outside lever is locked regardless of what happens on the inside, which makes the storeroom function the correct specification for pharmacy controlled substance rooms, IT server rooms, evidence storage, secure utility closets, and any restricted access opening where the door must never be unlocked from the outside without a key.

 

The deadlocking auxiliary latch deadlocks the primary latch bolt when the door is fully closed, which prevents shimming or sliding attacks on the latch bolt.

 

What EE214 Means and Why It Matters

 

On the Schlage ND Series, door thickness extensions are specified in 1/8-inch increments. ND Series locks measure door thickness for ordering by rounding up to the next 1/8-inch increment. EE214 means Extended Equally, 2-1/4 inches, covering the door range from 2-1/8" to 2-1/4" thick. EE indicates the spindle extends equally on both sides of the door, so the trim projection from the door face is symmetric on the inside and outside. If the spindle were extended only on the outside (EO) or only on the inside (EI), the rose position would be off-center on one face.

 

Specifying the wrong thickness code means the lever doesn't seat flush against the door face and the chassis doesn't tighten correctly. The EE214 ships ready for 2-inch to 2-1/4-inch thick doors, which covers oversized hollow metal doors, solid wood entrance doors, stacked security door assemblies, and commercial vault-adjacent door installations.

 

Schlage ND Series Grade 1 Specifications

 

The Schlage ND Series has been certified Grade 1 and independently tested to exceed 3 million operating cycles without failure. ND80 is tested to withstand 3,100 in-lb of abusive lever torque, more than 2.5 times the ANSI Grade 1 standard requirement, and 1,600 lbs of offset lever pull force against pry bar attacks.
