Schlage Special ND53 EE214 Grade 1 Entrance Lock - Extended Equally - 2-1/4" Thick Door

The Schlage ND53 EE214 is the heavy-duty entrance lever lock for doors between 2" and 2-1/4" thick. It's a standard ND53 entrance function lock built with an extended spindle to bridge the extra door thickness - the EE214 suffix tells you exactly what the modification is: Extended Equally (EE) for a 2-1/4" door (214). Both the inside and outside spindles are extended the same amount so the lever roses seat flush on both faces of the thicker door.

The standard ND53 covers door thickness from 1-5/8" to 2-1/8". When your door is 2" to 2-1/4" thick - common in certain wood/composite institutional doors, oversize solid core doors, and specific exterior door assemblies - the standard spindle length puts the rose and lever handle too far from the door face. The EE214 extension corrects that.

What "EE214" Means: Decoding the Schlage Option Code

Schlage's ND Series option codes for thick door spindle extensions follow a consistent structure. Understanding it prevents ordering the wrong extension.

EE = Extended Equally. Both inside and outside spindles are extended by the same amount. Rose seats flush on both door faces. This is what you want when the door is simply thicker than standard and both faces need equal accommodation.

The "214" portion refers to the door thickness this extension accommodates: 2-1/4". Door range for this option: 2" to 2-1/4" (51mm to 57mm).

Other ND53 thick-door options exist: EI (Extended Inside only) and EO (Extended Outside only) are used in specific frame or door prep situations where only one face needs accommodation. If you're unsure which to specify, measure both faces and verify your frame depth - equal extension on a standard thick door is the correct starting point.

ANSI F109 Entrance Function: How It Works

Same function as the standard ND53. ANSI F109 entrance lock. Push button inside with two modes:

Push only: Button pops out and locks the outside lever. Resets when inside lever is rotated or key is used from outside.

Push and turn: Button locks and stays engaged even if inside lever rotates. Key from outside retracts latch only - button must be manually returned to home position to fully unlock outside.

Inside lever is always free for immediate egress regardless of button state. ADA compliant.

Cylinder and Keying Options

ND53PD: 6-pin conventional, standard. Schlage C or Everest C123 keyway. Two nickel silver keys per lock.

ND53LD: Conventional, less cylinder. For existing key systems where the cylinder is ordered separately.

ND53BD: Small format IC, less core. Accepts BEST compatible SFIC cores (core not included, ordered separately).

ND53JD: Large format IC, less core. Accepts Schlage LFIC cores (core not included).

All options available with master keying, grand master keying, and construction keying.

Latchbolt: 1/2" throw stainless steel. 3/4" anti-friction latch for pairs of fire doors available on request.
