Electrified Cylindrical Locks
We stock electrified cylindrical lever locks from Schlage, Sargent, Corbin Russwin, dormakaba, and Command Access in fail-safe and fail-secure 12/24VDC configurations with integrated REX switch options.
What Makes an Electrified Cylindrical Lock Different from a Standard One?
An electrified cylindrical lock has a solenoid or motor added to the standard lock body that allows the latchbolt to be released or engaged electronically via a signal from the access control panel. The door prep is the same standard 161 bored hole. The lock installs the same way. The difference is internal. Power routes to the lock via an electrified hinge or surface wire transfer. For interior access control doors where the budget doesn't support a mortise upgrade and the function requirements are met by a cylindrical lock, this is the cost-effective electrified specification.
Integrated REX Switch: Why It Matters on the Door Side
Most electrified cylindrical locks include a built-in request-to-exit switch in the inside lever trim. When someone presses down on the inside lever to exit, the REX switch closes and signals the access control panel to shunt the door alarm before the door opens. Without this, every legitimate exit from the secure side triggers a door forced alarm. If you're ordering an electrified cylindrical for an access-controlled door, confirm the integrated REX switch is included in the configuration. Some base models don't include it.
