The PHI Precision ELR 2100 is a Grade 1 architectural rim exit device with built-in Electric Latch Retraction for momentary unlatching or continuous dogging via access control. It's part of the Precision Hardware Apex 2000 series, specified into hospitals, universities, federal buildings, and high-traffic commercial openings across North America. Continuous-duty solenoid, UL listed for panic and fire hardware, ANSI A156.3 Grade 1 certified. Seven function options from 2101 through 2115, two device lengths, and seven architectural finishes. 

What Is the PHI Precision ELR 2100 Apex Rim Exit Device

The ELR 2100 is a rim-mounted panic bar from PHI (Precision Hardware Inc.), part of the Apex 2000 series and electrified with the ELR option for remote latchbolt retraction. "ELR" stands for Electric Latch Retraction. A continuous-duty solenoid pulls the latchbolt back electronically so the door opens without physically pushing the touchbar. That lets you tie the exit device into automatic door operators, card readers, keypads, push buttons, toggle or key switches, and fire alarm systems. The base device covers ANSI A115.2 (Type 161) cylinder prep, A115.18 prep, and A115.1 (Type 86) mortise lock prep, so it drops into most existing door schedules without custom machining.

PHI Precision ELR 2100 Specifications and Wiring Requirements

The ELR 2100 requires the PHI ELR150 Series power supply for proper operation. Once installed, the solenoid can hold the latch retracted continuously for dogging or pulse for momentary unlatch. Core specs:

• Latchbolt: 3/4" throw, deadlocking stainless steel

• Strike: S300 investment cast stainless steel, black powder coated (standard), S988 for aluminum doors, S458 for mullion applications

• Chassis: investment cast steel, zinc dichromated

• Base material: heavy wrought brass, bronze, or stainless steel (aluminum on the 628 finish)

• Dogging: 1/4-turn hex key dogging, standard

• Fasteners: machine screws and full-thread wood/sheet metal screws included

• Handing: reversible for all functions and trims, ships RHRB

• Circuitry: Class II, UL listed panic and fire hardware

• BHMA: ANSI A156.3 Grade 1

ELR 2100 Function Options 2101 Through 2115

Specify the function based on how the exterior trim needs to operate:

• 2101 exit only, cover plate prep (no outside trim)

• 2102 exit only, dummy trim prep (outside trim is decorative)

• 2103 key retracts latchbolt (storeroom function)

• 2105 key controls thumbpiece (office function)

• 2108 key controls lever or knob (classroom function)

• 2114 lever or knob always active (passage)

• 2115 thumbpiece always active (passage with thumbpiece)

All seven functions are available with the ELR electrification so the solenoid behavior is identical regardless of exterior trim. Add TS (SPDT) or TDS (DPDT) switch options if you need to signal an external component, or LS/LDS versions for latchbolt monitoring.

Apex 2000 Finishes and Device Sizes

Available finishes: 630 Satin Stainless Steel (default, no upcharge), 606 Satin Brass, 612 Satin Bronze, 613 Oil Rubbed Bronze, 628 Satin Aluminum (-$158.46), 605 Bright Brass (+$112.29), and 625 Bright Chrome (+$112.29). Device sizes: 36" for door widths of 2'-7" to 3', and 48" for door widths of 3'-1" to 4'. Both sizes are field-cuttable if you need a custom fit. Fire-rated version (FL) is available at +$127.68 and ships without dogging per code.
