Cal-Royal A2260V / AF2260V vertical rod Push Bar Exit Panic Device

A surface vertical rod exit device is the most common push bar specification for standard commercial hollow metal doors. The rods run visibly on the face of the door, connecting the push bar to the top latch at the header and the bottom latch at the floor or threshold. When the push bar is depressed, both latching points release simultaneously, the door opens, and both rods re-engage automatically when the door closes. Cal-Royal's A2260V does exactly that. It's a 2200 Series surface vertical rod device, ANSI A156.3 Grade 1, non-handed, with a stainless steel latch bolt, heavy gauge steel rail assembly, and nonferrous alloy chassis and cover. The cover accommodates standard hollow metal doors with a 161 cutout without additional preparation.

A2260V vs. AF2260V: Standard vs. Fire-Rated

The A2260V is the standard non-fire-rated device. The AF2260V is the fire-rated version certified to UL10C and UBC 7-2-1997 for up to 3-hour fire labeled single door installations (4' x 8') and double door installations (8' x 8'). The fire-rated version uses a steel chassis instead of nonferrous alloy and ships with through-bolts as standard rather than optional. Through-bolts are included because fire-rated exit hardware requires secure fastening that resists separation under fire conditions. On the non-fire-rated version, through-bolts are available on request but not included. The fire-rated "F" option adds $72.00 to the standard device price at time of order.

2260V: For doors 30" to 36" wide, up to 84" tall; maximum cut-down 6". 2290V: For doors 30" to 36" wide, up to 96" tall; maximum cut-down 6". 2250V: For doors 30" to 36" wide, up to 120" tall; maximum cut-down 6". 2280V: For doors 36" to 48" wide, up to 96" tall; maximum cut-down 12". 2240V: For doors 36" to 48" wide, up to 120" tall; maximum cut-down 12". Select the correct size at time of order based on door width and height. Push bars ship at full length and can be cut down in the field up to the stated maximum.

Dogging and Cylinder Dogging

The standard A2260V includes an Allen-type hex key for dogging the push bar in the depressed and latched position, holding the door in free-swing passage mode for high-traffic periods. Cylinder dogging replaces the Allen key operation with a standard key cylinder for more convenient and controlled dogging by authorized personnel. Fire-rated AF2260V devices cannot be dogged; dogging is prohibited on fire-rated exit hardware.
