About this item
The Accentra Yale 2150 is a Grade 1 wide stile SquareBolt rim panic exit device from the Accentra 2100 Series, 36-inch length, exit only configuration. Also referenced as the Yale 2150 and Yale panic bar 2150, formerly marketed under the Yale Security brand. The patented SquareBolt design provides significantly greater forced-entry resistance than a standard rim latchbolt. American Locksets is an authorized Accentra ASSA ABLOY dealer stocking the 2150-36 with same-day shipping and free shipping on orders over $300.
Accentra Yale 2150 SquareBolt: The Panic Bar That Resists Forced Entry
The difference between the 2100 and the 2150 is the bolt. The standard 2100 uses a deadlocking pullman latchbolt, which has a rounded tip. The 2150 uses the patented SquareBolt deadbolt, which has a square-profile bolt that locks into the roller strike with a positive mechanical seat.
The geometry of the SquareBolt is the security advantage. A standard rounded latchbolt can be shimmed with a credit card, pried off the strike roller with a flat bar, or walked off the strike through sustained door rattling. The SquareBolt's flat-sided profile physically blocks all of these attack methods. Credit cards cannot slide past the flat face. Pry bars have no curved surface to lever against. Repeated door rattling does not cause the square bolt to ride up and off the strike the way a latch tip can. The SquareBolt seats into the strike and stays there.
Operating the exit device from inside works identically to any standard rim panic bar. Pressing the touchpad retracts the SquareBolt and the door swings open. The additional security is entirely on the exterior side, with no change to the life-safety egress behavior required by NFPA 101.

2150 vs. 2100: When to Specify the SquareBolt
The 2100 with a standard pullman latchbolt is the correct choice for routine commercial egress doors in office buildings, schools, and retail environments where the standard Grade 1 latchbolt security level meets the design requirement. The 2150 with the SquareBolt is the correct choice when the door is a higher-risk target, such as perimeter exit doors on retail properties with high theft-by-forced-entry exposure, exterior exit doors on high-security facilities, and any opening where the specifier or authority having jurisdiction identifies latchbolt-defeat resistance as a requirement. The 2150 costs more than the 2100 but delivers meaningfully higher resistance to the shimming, prying, and door-rattling attacks that standard rim latchbolts cannot resist.
