The Von Duprin 3327A-EO is the exit-only surface vertical rod exit device from Von Duprin's 33A Series narrow stile to 1-3/4 inch minimum, grooved mechanism case, deadlocking anti-friction top and bottom latch bolts, hex key dogging standard, fluid damper standard on all 33A/35A devices, ANSI A156.3 Grade 1, and UL listed for panic exit hardware. What the 3327A-EO Model Number Means

The model breaks down as follows. "33" is the 33A/35A Series platform Von Duprin's narrow stile surface vertical rod line. "27" designates the SVR (surface vertical rod) chassis with the 3-foot device size as the standard ordering configuration. "A" indicates the revised/current design with the one-piece center case cover. "EO" is exit only, no outside trim, no outside access, pushpad inside only.

The "3327A" specifically means a grooved mechanism case. If your spec calls for a smooth case, that's the 3527A mechanically identical, different exterior profile. Both are Grade 1. Both are UL listed. The choice is architectural, usually matching the aesthetic of the surrounding hardware on the door. Von Duprin 3327 vs 3347: What's the Difference

Both the 3327A and the 3347 appear in hardware schedules for vertical rod applications. The 3327A is the surface vertical rod device rods run on the surface of the door face, connecting the pushpad mechanism to top and bottom strikes at the door edge. The 3347 designation generally refers to a different configuration or function within the 33 Series family, often specifying a different trim function or a double egress application. 

The LAN-3327A Designation

"LAN-3327A" is a distributor-level or specification shorthand referencing the Von Duprin 3327A platform. It's not a separate product, it refers to the same 3327A Series device. If your purchase order or facility spec shows "LAN-3327A-EO," the product to order is the 3327A-EO.

Surface Vertical Rod vs Rim: Why the Difference Matters

A rim device has one latch bolt that engages a single rim strike at the door edge correct for single-point locking on a standard door. A surface vertical rod device has two latch bolts: one top and one bottom. The top rod runs to a strike at the top of the door frame; the bottom rod runs to a strike at the floor. This three-point engagement (center pushpad + top + bottom) is specified wherever the door requires controlled egress at both top and bottom simultaneously double doors, tall institutional doors, or doors where single-point rim latching doesn't meet code or doesn't adequately control the door leaf.

The 3327A-EO is a non-handed device. The handing spec matters only when the SS (signal switch) option is added. Standard exit-only ordering requires no handing designation.
