About this item
The Accentra 2100F is the fire rated rim exit device from the Yale 2100 Series, sized for doors from 30 to 36 inches wide. If you searched "2100f", "yale 2100f", "2100/42", "2100 f", "2100 1500", or "photo" - this is the product. Accentra is the current brand name for Yale commercial hardware under ASSA ABLOY. The 2100F model number and specifications carry forward directly from the Yale catalog. Same device, same hardware, same UL listings - new brand label on the carton.
2100F vs 2100: Why the F Designation Matters
The F in 2100F designates fire rated. The standard 2100 is panic listed only - it allows emergency egress but is not tested or listed for installation on fire-rated door assemblies. The 2100F carries UL/cUL listing specifically as fire exit hardware under classification GXHX/GXHX7, which is the UL listing required for exit devices installed on fire-rated doors.
Installing a non-fire-rated 2100 on a fire-rated door voids the door's fire rating at that opening. When the door opening carries any fire rating - whether 20 minutes, 45 minutes, 90 minutes, or 3 hours - the exit device must be the F variant. The 2100F is UL listed for fire doors with ratings up to and including 3 hours, for single doors up to 4 feet by 8 feet and pairs up to 8 feet by 8 feet.
What "2100 1500" Means: Two Exit Device Series Compared
If you searched "2100 1500" - you were comparing two Yale/Accentra exit device series. The 1500 Series is the older standard-width device designed for doors with full stile width. The 2100 Series replaced it with a design that works on both standard stile and wide stile doors. The 2100F trim accessories are also compatible with 1500, 6000, and 7000 Series devices - the 630F, 634F, 631F, and 632F trim installation instructions specifically cover compatibility across all four series. The 2100F is the current generation specification that has effectively superseded the 1500 in most commercial projects.
Wide Stile Application and the E-Bracket Fire Interlock
The 2100F is designed for wide stile doors - the minimum stile width is 4-1/2 inches. This covers hollow metal doors and wood doors with wide vertical stiles, which are the most common commercial door types in office buildings, schools, healthcare facilities, and retail construction.
The steel interlock E-bracket is an important fire door feature specific to paired door applications. When the 2100F is installed on one leaf of a pair of fire-labeled doors with a mullion, the E-bracket maintains the door-to-mullion relationship under fire conditions. Metal expands in a fire event, and without this interlock, the door leaf can shift and break the seal between door and mullion. The E-bracket prevents that shift. It's a fire door code compliance feature, not a standard hardware option - and it's the reason fire-rated paired door applications must specify the 2100F rather than the standard 2100.
Deadlocking Pullman Latchbolt and 757F Roller Strike
The 2100F uses a 3/4-inch deadlocking stainless steel pullman-type latchbolt. Pullman type means the latchbolt retracts in a sliding linear motion rather than a pivoting motion - this is the standard rim exit device latch configuration. Deadlocking means an auxiliary feature prevents the latchbolt from being retracted by shimming or pushing without operating the touchbar.
The strike is the 757F roller strike. The roller in the roller strike reduces the friction and wear on the latchbolt tip every time the door closes. On a high-traffic commercial or institutional door that closes hundreds of times a day, that friction reduction extends latchbolt life significantly compared to a flat strike. The roller strike is standard equipment on the 2100F, not an upgrade.
Non-Handed and 36" vs 48" Bar Length
The 2100F is non-handed. The device body installs on both left-hand and right-hand doors without modification. This simplifies stocking and eliminates the risk of ordering the wrong hand for a door. The trim is handed - when outside trim is specified, confirm handing on the trim component.
The 36-inch bar covers doors from 30 to 36 inches wide. The 48-inch bar covers doors from 36-1/2 to 48 inches wide. Bar length is field-cuttable for exact fit within the applicable door width range.
Trim Compatibility
The 2100F pairs with the full range of Accentra exit device trim: 620F (exit only), 621F (nightlatch pull), 626F and 626F/Augusta (classroom/storeroom), 628F and AU628F (passage lever), 631F (nightlatch pull), 632F (nightlatch pull with key), 634F (dummy pull), and others. All trim is sold separately. Specify the trim separately based on the outside access function required for the opening.
