About this item
The Falcon B511 is the entry/office function in the Falcon B Series Grade 2 cylindrical lever lock line. It's one of the most competitively priced Grade 2 entry/office locks from a major commercial hardware manufacturer on the market, and it ships with Falcon's full commercial spec: 6-pin cylinder with G keyway, Dane lever in 626 Satin Chrome, 2-3/4" backset, deadlocking latch, self-adjusting front for beveled and flat doors, 4-7/8" ANSI strike, 3-hour UL A label, and ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Series 4000 Grade 2 certification.
The function is ANSI F109, Entry/Office: the outside lever is controlled by a push button on the inside trim. Press the button once and the outside lever locks until either a key is used from outside or the inside lever is turned for egress. Press-and-turn the button and the outside lever stays locked until the button is manually released from inside, regardless of key entry. Inside lever is always free for exit. This is the standard commercial entry lock specification for office suites, medical offices, professional spaces, retail back rooms, and any opening where staff controls access from inside. For all Falcon B Series Grade 2 locks, browse our Falcon B Series Grade 2 catalog. For all Grade 2 commercial lever locks, view our commercial locks catalog.
ANSI F109 Two-Mode Push Button: Both Modes
Mode one, single press: Push the inside button. The outside lever locks. Entry from outside requires a key. Turning the inside lever for egress releases the button simultaneously and the door returns to unlocked. The next visitor still needs a key.
Mode two, press and turn: Push the inside button and rotate it. The outside lever locks in a maintained state. A key from outside enters the space, but the button does not release on key entry. Someone inside must manually release the button to return the door to normal. Used when management wants the door to stay locked between keyed entries without staff needing to reset the button after each visitor.

B511 vs. Other B Series Functions
The Falcon B Series covers the full Grade 2 function range. The B501 is the entry function (key outside retracts latch each time). The B511 (this product) is the entry/office function with a two-mode push button. The B521 is the office function (push button locks outside lever; key is not a factor). The B561 is the classroom function (key from corridor locks or unlocks outside lever). The B581 is the storeroom function (outside lever always locked; key entry every time). All use the same B Series body and are available in the same lever styles and finishes.
B Series Grade 2 vs. T Series Grade 1
The Falcon T511 in the related products is the Grade 1 version of the same ANSI F109 entry/office function. Grade 1 means 250,000 cycles to ANSI/BHMA vs. 400,000 cycles to Grade 1 (actually Grade 2 is 250,000 and Grade 1 is 500,000 minimum). For standard office and commercial applications the B511 Grade 2 is the cost-effective correct specification. For high-traffic or institutional applications where Grade 1 is required by spec, the T511 is the upgrade.
