Falcon T511 Grade 1 Entry/Office Cylindrical Lock

The Falcon T511 is the entry/office function in the T Series Grade 1 cylindrical lock line. The function is ANSI F109, and the defining feature is a two-mode push button that gives inside staff two different levels of outside lever lockout depending on the situation.

Mode one is a single press. The button locks the outside lever. Entry from the corridor requires a key. When someone enters with a key, the button releases and the outside lever returns to normal. When the inside occupant turns the inside lever for egress, the button also releases. The lock resets to unlock after each key entry event.

Mode two is a press-and-turn. The button locks the outside lever and stays locked even after key entry from outside. Someone enters with their key, but the outside lever remains locked. The button must be manually released from inside before the next keyless entry can work. This maintained lock mode is used when staff wants to hold the room in a secured state for a full session without resetting the button every time a visitor enters with a key.

T511 vs T501: Two-Mode vs Single-Mode Entry

Both the T501 and T511 are T Series Grade 1 entry locks with push-button inside control. The T501 (ANSI F82) has a single-mode button: one press lock, key entry or inside lever unlocks. The lock always resets to unlock after a key is used from outside.

The T511 (ANSI F109) adds the second mode. When staff presses and turns the button, the lock enters a maintained state. Key entry from outside still opens the door, but the button remains engaged. The corridor is locked until someone inside manually releases it.

In a professional office suite, a doctor's private office, a consultation room, or any space where the occupant regularly needs to hold the room locked for extended periods between keyed visitor entries, the T511 is the correct specification. For doors that only need temporary lockout with automatic reset after each key entry, the T501 is simpler and equally effective.
