Falcon T501 Grade 1 Entry Cylindrical Lock

The Falcon T501 is the entry function in the T Series Grade 1 cylindrical lock line. The function is ANSI F82: a push button on the inside trim controls outside lever access. Press the button and the outside lever locks. The door can't be opened from the corridor until either a key is used from outside or the inside lever is turned for egress. When the inside lever is turned to exit, it simultaneously releases the push button and returns the outside lever to normal operation. Inside lever is always free regardless of button state.

This is the standard commercial entry lock specification: controlled outside access, unrestricted inside egress, no key needed from inside to pass through during normal use. The deadlocking latch bolt engages automatically when the door closes, preventing shimming or credit card attacks against the latch face.

The Falcon T Series is Falcon's Grade 1 cylindrical lock line, rated to ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Series 4000 Grade 1 with a UL 3-hour A label for fire-rated doors. T501 vs T511: Entry vs Entry/Office

Both the T501 and T511 are T Series entry locks with push-button inside control. The function distinction is in how the push button behaves.

The T501 (ANSI F82, this product) has a single-mode push button. Press it and the outside lever locks. The outside lever unlocks when a key is used from outside or when the inside lever is turned for egress. There's no maintained-lock mode.

The T511 (ANSI F109 Entry/Office) has a two-mode push button. A single press locks the outside lever and releases it on key entry or inside lever operation. A press-and-turn engages a maintained lock mode where the outside lever stays locked even after key entry, until the button is manually released from inside. This second mode lets inside staff lock out the corridor for a full session without resetting the button after every visitor.

For standard commercial entry control where the door needs to lock when staff wants privacy but resets normally after each key entry, the T501 is the correct specification. For offices where staff regularly want the corridor locked for extended periods between keyed entries, the T511 is the correct specification.

Lever Styles and Finishes

Three lever styles are available for the T501: Avalon (A), Dane (D), and Quantum (Q). Five finishes: 626 Satin Chrome, 625 Bright Chrome, 605 Bright Brass, 613 Oil Rubbed Bronze, and 619 Satin Nickel. The model code identifies both: T501D626 is Dane lever in Satin Chrome; T501Q613 is Quantum lever in Oil Rubbed Bronze. All lever and finish options are consistent across the T501 through T581 function range for visual consistency across a building's full door schedule.

Falcon T Series vs Falcon B Series

The Falcon B Series is the Grade 2 equivalent of the T Series. The B501 is the Grade 2 entry function. The T501 (this product) is the Grade 1 entry function. Both use the ANSI F82 push button entry operation. The T Series carries higher cycle ratings, heavier-duty internal components, and Grade 1 ANSI certification required on government, military, healthcare, and institutional specifications. For applications where Grade 1 is not specifically called for, the B501 offers the same function at a lower investment.
