Falcon W581 Storeroom Lock: ANSI Function F86

The W581 operates on ANSI Function F86: storeroom function. The outside lever is inoperable at all times. The only way to retract the latchbolt from the outside is by inserting a key in the outside lever cylinder. The inside lever always operates freely, providing immediate egress without a key at any time. The latchbolt is a deadlocking type, meaning the auxiliary latch pins the latchbolt when the door is fully closed, preventing loiding or shimming from the exterior.

This is the highest-security function available in a standard cylindrical lock format. Unlike the office or entry function where a button or thumbturn can leave the outside lever locked but is reversible, the storeroom function provides no override mechanism other than a key. There is no way to unlock the outside lever from the interior side. If the door closes with the key left inside, a key is required to re-enter.
