About this item
The Accentra 7105 is a 36" rim exit device from the 7000 Series with cylinder dogging included. It's a wide stile pushpad device, sold less trim and less cylinder. Grade 1 ANSI/BHMA certified, non-handed, UL/cUL listed for panic and fire doors. The 7105 is the cylinder-dogged variant of the base 7100 rim device - the only difference between the two is that the 7105 includes a cylinder dogging feature that lets you lock the pushpad in the depressed position using a standard key cylinder (not included).
This is an ASSA ABLOY product, formerly marketed under the Yale brand. Yale exit hardware is now branded Accentra - same manufacturing, same specifications, new name.
What Cylinder Dogging Does and Why It's Specified
Dogging holds the pushpad depressed so the latch retracts and the door operates as a push-pull without panic hardware engagement. It's used during business hours on high-traffic doors where constant pushpad pressure would accelerate wear, and where you want the door to operate freely without anyone needing to push the panic bar every time.
The 7105 uses cylinder dogging - a key cylinder is inserted and turned to engage the dog and hold the pushpad in the depressed position. To release the dog and return the device to panic hardware mode, you turn the key back. The cylinder is not included and must be ordered separately.
The alternative on other exit device models is hex key dogging, which uses a 5/32" hex wrench instead of a key cylinder. Cylinder dogging is typically specified when accountability matters - only people with the cylinder key can engage or disengage the dog - and for fire-rated applications where the AHJ requires key-controlled dogging.
7100 vs 7105 vs 7100F: Choosing the Right Model
7100: Base rim exit device, exit only function, no dogging. For doors that should never be dogged, or where a separate alarm device controls after-hours locking.
7105 (this product): Adds cylinder dogging. Specified for main lobby doors, primary commercial corridors, and any high-traffic opening where daytime free passage is needed with keyed override.
7100F: Fire-rated variant. Exit only, no dogging, rated for labeled fire doors. Mechanical dogging is prohibited on fire-rated openings - this is a UL requirement, not a product limitation.
7100MELR: Motorized Electric Latch Retraction version for access control integration where remote latch release is needed.
Physical Specifications
Device: Rim type, wide stile pushpad. Pushpad covers the full width of the door stile.
Device lengths: 36" (this listing) and 48" (order the 7105-48" separately for glass or oversized doors).

Handing: Non-handed. The device installs on left-hand or right-hand doors without modification.
Built with a tough, heavy-duty steel chassis, this lock is made to last. It features a patented SquareBolt latchbolt, designed to be stronger and more secure than traditional round latchbolts, giving you added peace of mind.
Integration: Compatible with mechanical and electromechanical accessories including electric latch retraction, alarms, touchbar monitoring, and access control systems.
